April           1st   Sunday (91-274)
After breakfast, dressing --- rode down to Allington to: with Arthur walking and borrowed his horse and trap (having heard that the --- to Nelson had ceased running.--- and then I drove Jane to Nelson at 20 minutes to 3 arriving about 5. put --- at Winter-- and spent morning at Creasys.-- -- -- --
Cloudy day, but no rain until the evening when a sort of scotch mist fell for some hours.
Walked over the "Trafalgar Hotel" this evening with the Head man (Taylor being ill) still in an unfinished state but nicely built and ---  and some Capital sitting rooms (Bedrooms very small).
Slept at "Wakatu" -- -- and to bed at 10 o clock. much disturbed between 1 and 3 am by --- hourly barking of dogs.
