| 1854[7th Month] 3 Monday [184-181] July |
Got up with Arthur at half past 6 and went down to Barn. Concealed Arthur in the Hay and myself at some distance in the farm. Charles Mason came down in about 20 minutes after and filled his bag with my hay, took one of the eggs left in the laying box, tried to catch one of the fowl but the bird got away. He nearly touched Arthur's face in moving some hay but did not discover him. Arthur joined me after Mason had left as instructed. After breakfast I went down to Richmond and after calling at Lakings(the Doctor not at home) went on to Mr O'Henson's and swore information against Mason. Got summons granted and then after lunching with Mr O went on to "Star" and paid for 3 bottles ------- had before --------- . Was going onto Longar's but the mare seemed so dull and heavy that I returned slowly home. James McHardy brought back the firewood owing and my Hogshead. |
