| A Fast day by order of the Government on a/c of The Russian War A very fine day, called at Kennetts and arranged for his Cart & horse for tomorrow. I brought him over to look at the land wanting ploughing. He had glass of ale and ------ "Kitty" was on his land with his mare- left her there. James McHardy called after dinner and was present when the children brought in word that the Mchardy's were driving my Cows at full gallop over the land. I went over in a great temper and throwing down all the bales across the road gave Mr McHardy notice that I should hold them liable if "Diamond" slipped her calf and that I would in future have the road kept open. Returned home and then went down with my gun to the river, calling at --------. Found 3 ducks opposite Neale's and after firing --- ----- and almost shaving their feathers, they got up and I brought down a duck to ---- ---- but lost it on the opposite bank having no dogs. ------ came down with his gun and together we went up the hill towards the saw mills. Saw some Blue Ducks but could not get near enough. ----- promised to bring me a load or two later in a week or ten days. Home at half past 6 aftr a very pretty walk. Harford not at work today, being a holiday |
